X-Men Origins: Wolverine To Be Released On May 1, 2009

There was a period when Hollywood shunned comic properties like the plague. With average interpretations of masterpiece characters like the Punisher, Captain America, and even the Fantastic Four – the last two being so bad that they wind up as straight-to-video issues – Hollywood has grasped the notion that comic properties do not command a following that is large enough to ensure a hit.

In 2000, a comic-adapted flick altered such a perception.

Bryan Singer took comic book’s main franchise, the X-Men, and created a great film out of the same. The outcome is a trilogy that raked in billions of dollars in profit.

The X-Men flicks are greatly recognized as the films that broke open the gates of Hollywood for highly booming superhero films that came after – Spider-Man, Blade, Daredevil, the two Fantastic Four flicks, and even the remake of Batman and the come back of Superman to the wide screen.

The X-Men trilogy, nevertheless, has completed its run.

Nonetheless, followers should not worry as Marvel Comics and 20th Century Fox are planning a series of films focusing on the genesis of the transformed creatures we have grown to like.

First of these films is X-Men Origins: Wolverine, scheduled for a May 1, 2009 showing. Hugh Jackman will reprise his character as the titular persona, though, the film will be adjusted some 17 years before the occurrences of the first X-men movie.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine tells the tale of Logan’s unearthing of his mutant abilities, his addition to the Weapon X program, his transactions with William Stryker, and his falling out with the stated institution.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine will feature a slew of new mutants direct from the comic series, like the motor mouth killer, Dead Pool – played by the highly-recognized Ryan Reynolds – and the raging Cajun, Gambit – played by Taylor Kitsch. Sabretooth, surely, will perform a crucial role in the flick, being a central figure in the Wolverine mythos.

One of the things to see in the flick is the surprise that the Weapon X code doesn’t mean the letter X, rather, it refers to the number “ten,” with Wolverine being the tenth government project made for mass destruction. The ending of X-Men Origins will pit Wolverine against the new edition of the program, Weapon XI.

It’s going to be slobber knocker!

Waiting To Watch The Watchmen

Hollywood has recognized what comic enthusiasts has long realized – superhero films are a big business. Success of films such as the X-Men trilogy, the Spider-Man trilogy, the Batman films, and sleeper hits such as Iron Man and Sky High prove this fact. The pursuit for comic book assets has intensed.

2009 is no exclusion, and the year’s biggest film may wonderfully be based on the widely commended comic book maxi-series of all time.

Allan Moore’s Watchmen is the title that is often mentioned as a reply to the question “what is the best comic book in record?” Watchmen is a work of art in storytelling, breaking new bases in the avenue with techniques that were radical in those period.

Watchmen exposes a period when superheroes have been banned and super troops have disbanded. One such group, the Watchmen, were mandated to come together when one of their former associates was slained, with all clues referring to another member of the team as the offender.

What follows next is an exposition nothing like any other – the ethical conundrums of being a supernatural being, the fair contemplation of methods and outcomes, the price of supreme intelligence, the dangers of an all-commanding government, the misfortunes of being a superhero, the triumph and pretense of being normal, a research on the callings of the flesh, and so much more.

Many studios and many producers have attempted to bring Watchmen to the silver screen n the past, but only with the coming to life of one Zack Snyder has there been overflowing belief for a realistic adaptation of the effort to another medium. Zack Snyder, certainly, is the same visionary director who provided us an almost-seamless film interpretation of comic book classic, 300, by Frank Miller.

Early still takes and teaser clips of the movie has guaranteed the typically fanatical comic fandom that the beloved franchise is in good hands. The group of actors is perfect, and Dr. Manhattan, the heavenly personality in the series, is perfectly portrayed by computer generated illustrations.

Watchmen is prepared to carry on the trend of superhero films raking in the big bucks.

Although, Watchmen is no ordinary superhero film. It is an oeuvre camouflaged as a comic book. It is a study of civilization, politics and philosophy using spandex-wearing personas as characters. And it will be one of the best films of the century despite its appearingly glitzy setup.

Yo Joe! G.I. Joe: Rise Of Cobra Continues The Renaissance Of Cartoon Properties From The Eighties

With the success of the movie version of the Transformers, there has been a renaissance of species for cartoon properties from the eighties. In spite of everything, the children in the eighties are the working class of today. They can today afford to pay for their pursuits and concerns – which may still include their youth desires.

Hollywood has shown interest on cartoon elements like Thundercats and Captain Caveman. He-Man and the Masters of the Universe is scheduled for a movie adaptation which will make many put behind the terrible movie version that casted Dolph Lundgren. Streetfighter – although a video game element emerged in the near the beginning of the nineties - is planned for a remake with Kristin Kreuk slated to portray the character of Chun Li in a single movie dedicated to the character.

And what about G.I. Joe, the other Hasbro property that was always the yin to the Transformer’s yang all through those wonderful years of glam rock and Ronald Reagan?

Well, 2009 will mark the showing of G.I. Joe, the movie.

Indeed, America’s primary elite assault influence will duke it out with the group of Cobra in a film appropriately called G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra.

The film is deemed to be a faithful interpretation of the cartoon, from the depiction of the stars casted to the outfits they will be using. Snake Eyes will still be a ninja who won’t talk. He will still use the slippery black attire and the helm that made him very famous all through our childhood days. Cobra Commander will always be the grand antagonist we have grown to despise and like. Duke will nonetheless be the war-blemished soldier that one and all knows will be the successor to General Hawk.

Howver G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra won’t be a “battle underway” kind of tale. Rather, the film is gauged to be an beginning story describing the, well, rise of the malevolent Cobra society and the structure of the G.I. Joe strike force to oppose them.

Despite its military roots, G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra isn’t actually classified as a combat film. But, it is more similar to a fancy film like the X-Men and even the Lord of the Rings. Channing Tatum, who will portray the character of Duke, primarily didn’t like to be a star of the film for the reason that his anti-violence opinions. Although after comprehending the play, Tatum reconsidered as he realized that G.I. Joe is more of heaven and hell, nice versus vice rendezvous.
